Obituary for William Bruce

William Bruce
William "Bill" David Bruce was born on May 16, 1948 in Hilo, HI to James and Ruthe Bruce. His family moved to Maui in 1950 and he lived there until he went to Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, UT where he graduated high school. He got his bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT then was called to ministry and attended Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, TX. He initially married Jean Turner with whom he had two children, Heather and David. Following that he married his dear wife Laurie, and celebrated 33 yrs. with her last Nov. 5th.

He was a United Methodist minister & served churches with his clergy wife Laurie in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah before he retired in 2013. Bill & Laurie learned to fly in Laramie, WY in 1984 and flew together with great joy for many years. In later years Bill loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. Bill was the most wonderful, humorous, kind and loving human being you would ever meet. He is survived by his wife Laurie, his daughter, Heather, her husband Tim and their sons, Alex and Bailey; his son David, his wife Amanda and their daughters Cora and Martha Ann, his siblings Elizabeth, Jim, Bob, John and his beloved nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Parents James and Ruthe Bruce and his niece Heather Peterson.

The memorial service is at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 24th at Prairie Grove United Methodist Church. Attire is aloha attire or casual.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Circle of Life Hospice or the Wesley Foundation at the University of Wyoming.
